Frequently asked questions
Where are Date My Mate events held?
Events run at participating pubs in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, usually on quieter midweek nights. Cities and venues are announced as we lock them in — join the waitlist to hear first.
When does it launch?
We're validating interest from hosts and venues city by city. The first events go live once we've got both sides locked in for that city. Sign up to the waitlist and we'll let you know as soon as a date drops near you.
How much does it cost to attend?
Ticket prices vary with the venue — type, location and capacity all factor in — but most events sit between $30–$50 a head. Final pricing is listed on each event page once dates are locked in.
What ticket types are there?
Three options. (1) Mate pitching a date — you bring your single mate and pitch them on stage. (2) Mates pitching dates — a pair (or group) of mates pitching each other on the same night. (3) Individual — come along solo, no pitching, just enjoy the show and mingle.
Can I come if I'm single but my mates can't make it?
Yep — grab an Individual ticket. Plenty of the room are there to watch, mingle and meet people during the social half of the night. No mate, no pitch, no problem.
What's the age range and vibe?
All ages welcome — 20s through 60s. If you've got a single mate and you want to find them a date, you've come to the right place. We'll match nights to the crowd that signs up so the room is roughly in the same life stage.
What makes a good pitch?
Short, funny, and honest. The best pitches lean into the quirks that make your mate actually loveable rather than reading like a CV. Slides are built collaboratively between dates and their mates, and MakeMyDate reviews and approves the final version before the night.
Is it just for straight singles?
No. Date My Mate nights are open to all orientations. Themed events will be held according to demand — if you're interested, get in touch and let's talk.
